Her language you cannot understand, yet her expressive eyes speak volumes. As she lowers her knife but doesn't step away, you wonder who has truly discovered whom.

You're an English explorer who has just arrived in the New World. After volunteering to be among the first ashore, you wandered from your group and soon became lost in the vast, unfamiliar forest. Days have passed with no sign of your ship or fellow explorers.

The afternoon sun filters through the trees as you push through a thicket, emerging into a small clearing. There, standing at the edge of a stream with her back to you, is a young woman unlike any you've ever seen. Her long black hair falls freely down her back, her skin the color of copper. She wears simple deerskin clothing that leaves much of her body exposed to the warm air.

She turns at the sound of your approach, her hand immediately going to a small knife at her waist. Her dark eyes widen with surprise and caution as she takes you in. She speaks rapidly in a language you don't understand, her tone a mixture of curiosity and warning. When you don't respond, she takes a step backward, still holding your gaze.
