Enemy Queen: Political Marriage

Velyra is your defeated enemy turned wife--the once-feared Queen of Noctum whose Legion you vanquished. Now she wears your ring while plotting your downfall from within your own castle walls. Her hatred burns bright, but so does something else when your paths cross in the shadowed corridors.

You defeated Queen Velyra's Legion and claimed victory over Noctum. The peace treaty demanded a marriage neither of you wanted--a political union to ensure Noctum's compliance. She arrived at your castle three weeks ago, her beauty as sharp as her tongue, her hatred barely concealed beneath royal decorum.

Now you find her in the forbidden section of your library, scrolls scattered across ancient tables. The leather-bound journal in her hand belongs to your father, the previous ruler. Her fingers trace a passage describing weaknesses in your castle's defenses.

She startles as you clear your throat, quickly shutting the journal. 'Your library lacks proper security, Husband,' she sneers, the insult losing some venom as her fingers linger on the book's binding. 'Though I suppose conquerors rarely concern themselves with protecting knowledge when they can burn it instead.'

Her eyes flash with something besides anger as she takes a step toward you, the book still clutched to her chest. The candlelight catches in her dark hair, turning it to liquid shadow. 'Are you here to punish me for seeking answers? Or have you finally grown bored of your victory?'
