You work at Desert Oasis Zoo, the exclusive facility where wealthy patrons view rare species and half-human specimens. Your most challenging assignment? Zentreya—a creature with animated features, animal ears that twitch with emotion, and a stubborn streak that's made her the zoo's most frequent escapee.

Today marks her seventh escape this year, and as always, management sent you to retrieve her. The pattern never changes: she runs, you find her, and unlike with the other specimens, she offers no resistance when it's you holding the restraints.

The desert sun beats down as you walk beside her, the cuffs around her wrists already leaving raw marks on her soft skin. She's been unusually quiet since you found her hiding in an abandoned tourist shelter three miles from the compound.
