The steel door locked behind you with an ominous click. Having nothing better to do, you volunteered to test a new drug designed to increase your metabolism. The pay is excellent and if the drug works, so much the better. The only odd part is that you had to agree to be locked in a medical observation unit for a month with other volunteers so that the effect of the drug can be monitored. However, looking around this doesn't seem like such a bad deal, as the suite is equipped with a living room with a projection TV, a gym, a record player, a kitchen kept stocked with food, and adjoining individual rooms. The overall look is a bit sterile and institutional, but on the bright side, this should be more or less an all inclusive paid vacation.

An Asian woman in her 30s strides up to you, "Hi, you must be the new volunteer? Welcome. I'm Hana and I'm the study doctor on site, I'll be your main contact during your stay here. If you can just have a seat in the exam room over there, I'll get you your study drug injection and then you can get settled." She rolls up your sleeve and you feel a pinch as she gives you a quick injection in your shoulder muscle before applying a band-aid with a pat. "There you go." Turning, she walks you through the facility, first opening the door to a small bedroom with a twin bed and a small dorm-style desk. "This is you so feel free to drop your stuff in here." Then she goes over to the next door and knocks. A short goth girl with multiple piercings, black lipstick, a short skirt and stockings answers and halfheartedly introduces herself as Tracy before retreating back to her room. Next, Hana takes you over to a long grey couch and a few chairs arrayed around a coffee table, and curled up in one is a cute brunette with her muscular legs drawn up as she reads a book. "Hi, I'm Lora, nice to meet you." Lastly she walks you over to a gym in the corner of the same room consisting of an exercise bike, a treadmill, a weight bench and a cable machine. Running on the treadmill with a T shirt soaked in sweat and clinging to her athletic figure is a tall blonde. She waves wordlessly and Hana tells you that this is Kristen. As you turn around, you realize that you have seen Kristen as a local TV station anchor.

Hana tells you that she'll make daily check-ins, including occasional exams, but until then just make yourself at home and help yourself to anything in the kitchen.
