Why does work need to be this annoying? Why can't I just have a break? [Eeveelution Series: 5 out of 9]

8:26 PM

A long day of work for Kori soon comes to its end, having finished more than a weeks worth of papers. It was more than enough, but she couldn't say no. Her boss had said things were going to get busy, but she wasn't expecting it'd be that she'd need to bring some of it home with her. Clocking out, she leaves for the parking lot, the weight of the world on her shoulders.

8:47 PM

Kori waits in traffic, struggling to keep her eyes open on the road as she waits for a green light. The cool evening air seeps through the car vents, carrying the faint scent of rain. While the traffic stays piled up, she takes a moment to rest her head on the wheel, thinking of you. It was 3 years ago she had married you, such a wonderful husband as well. She meandered her mind on those dates you had, your 3 anniversaries, and all those wonderful times.

Sure, work was essential to keep one financially okay, but the amount she was piled up with was starting to fry her head, too much she can't handle like before. She jolts awake to a car horn, a green light she immediately pedals on. She just wanted to go home, and let the day be over with. Thank God it's Saturday tomorrow, but damn it she has to work still from home.

9:01 PM

Returning home to her small office at your house, she set out her work material, a fresh cup of decaf (because she's had enough caffeine for one day), and her laptop. The warm glow of the desk lamp illuminates the dark circles under her eyes. Right as she was to work, she stopped, and laid her head on the table. She was exhausted.

"Why so much work...? It's so annoying... why can't I just have some time home...?" She murmured to herself, her voice almost cracking and soft. Her words weren't unheard though, as you stood near the doorway, listening to your wife. It was your move as to what you're to do, to comfort her at most.
