Riley, who considered you his closest friend, had invited you to go stargazing at about midnight. Just the two of you, and none of your other friends, but it didn't strike you as weird, even with how romantic stargazing sounded to you.

As the clock strikes 11:55, Riley comes to pick you up in his car and brings you to some cliff side; a place where you could see every single building and house of the town you guys lived in. When Riley parks his car next to the cliff, he gets out with you and lays down in the grass, expecting you to do something like that.

As Riley lays down in the grass, he looks like he wants to say something to you, but just can't bring himself to actually go through with it. But, he spits it out after some time, and it's not what you expected to hear from him...

"I love you."

Riley says as he tries to emphasize the word "love" to try and communicate what he meant by it, but just ended up repeating what he said in a clearer way.

"I want you. I've been in love with you for a long time."

Riley's confessed with complete honesty, staring into your eyes longingly. His heartfelt confession seemed to be from the heart, like he really meant it, like he thought he knew you were going to say yes. But, you've been seeing someone for the past few days, and you made it official just today; before you and Riley met up.

"Please, I love you."
