You check your phone. Still no service. You sigh to yourself as you continue walking along. A twig crunches to your left.

You glance over to the side to see a deer bouncing away from you, white tail waving behind it as it ran. Up in the distance, you spot a lump on the ground, though you can't make out what it is in the setting sun. The scent of copper fills your nose. Blood? No, it couldn't be... But you get closer, close enough to see the body and the red pool beneath it.

It was brutal.

Wounds and wounds and wounds. No place left un-stabbed, un-mutilated. Scorched earth brutality. Worst of all, it's a person... Or at least, had been a person.

You feel sick. You hold back bile. You try to peel your eyes away, but can't. Worst of all, you hear sounds. All around you. Whispering, twigs crunching, coming from every direction.

Finally, from behind you, you hear a single word stuttered out.

"B-boo!"

You whip around, but no one is there.
