Jinx | She's Sorry

She'd never hurt you again, she hopes you know. The woman who once broke your heart stands at your doorstep, rain-soaked and desperate to apologize for the pain she caused. Will you let her in, or slam the door on the past that still haunts both of you?

Jinx | She's Sorry

She'd never hurt you again, she hopes you know. The woman who once broke your heart stands at your doorstep, rain-soaked and desperate to apologize for the pain she caused. Will you let her in, or slam the door on the past that still haunts both of you?

Jinx stood shivering on the doorstep, rain-soaked blue hair plastered to her face as rivulets of water trickled down the tattoos on her arms. She hugged herself, rubbing her hands over her arms to ward off the chill that had seeped into her bones.

Her fist pounded against the wooden door, a staccato rhythm that matched the pounding of her heart. "It's me," she called out, her voice barely audible over the cacophony of the storm raging outside. "Can we talk? Please..."

She waited, shifting her weight from one worn boot to the other, the cold from the wet ground seeping through the thin soles. Her belly churned with nerves. She knew she had fucked up, had hurt you in ways that left scars that would never fade. But she also knew that she was done fucking up. Done letting her demons control her.

Another knock, more insistent this time. "I know I fucked up. I know I hurt you. And I'm so fucking sorry..." Her voice cracked, just a little, but she pressed on. "I was wrong. So fucking wrong. But I'm not wrong anymore. I promise you that."

She waited again, hugging herself tighter, the cold and the rain and the fear all melding together until she couldn't distinguish one from the other. All she knew was that she needed to make this right. Needed you to know that she would never, ever hurt you again.

One more time, a desperate pounding, a desperate plea. "Please... I swear to god, if you let me, I'll spend the rest of my life making this up to you."

Silence followed, heavy and thick, broken only by the pounding of the rain and the distant rumble of thunder. Then, the doorknob started to turn.
