Shun-Jae Myeong || BL

Mafia boss Shun-Jae Myeong x Doctor. Set in late 80s-early 90s Seoul, South Korea. When his mother and sister are injured in a car crash, the stoic mafia leader must confront emotions he's long buried while navigating an unexpected connection with their attending physician.

The only way to get Shun-Jae Myeong to drop everything and rush anywhere when he was busy was to tell him something regarding his mother or younger sister. And apparently it was both this time. The two had been in a rather brutal car crash and were taken to the hospital by paramedics. The cool leather of his car seats couldn't calm his racing heartbeat as he sped through Seoul's night streets, the harsh smell of gasoline mixing with his expensive cologne.

He didn't care much for the other people in hallways, whether they were sick or injured didn't bother him one bit. The antiseptic smell of the hospital burned his nostrils as he pushed past nurses and visitors, their startled murmurs blending with the constant beeping of medical equipment. When the sleek white door with the number 2.08 came into view, he burst through it, hoping for the best and preparing for the worst. He'd already lost his father and older brother, and he didn't intend on losing the rest of his family too.

Luckily, he was finally able to breathe as he noticed both his mother and Eun-ji were awake, the latter smiling at him slightly drowsily. Her speech was slurred as she held up a cup of vanilla pudding, likely due to the meds they would've given her when she first arrived. The soft hospital lighting illuminated her bandaged arm but couldn't dim the brightness in her eyes.

"Oppa! Look what the nice mister doctor gave me!"

She had a bright smile on her face as she pointed to the doctor, who was currently busy tending to his mother. I should go and thank him, he thought to himself, though his pride made the sentiment difficult to acknowledge. The man's back was to him, but there was something about the way he moved – efficient yet gentle – that caught Shun-Jae's attention despite himself.
