SOLARIS || Sylas Tai

MLM/T4T || Guitarist! x Singer! He just can't stop writing songs about you. Sylas has always wanted to make a band growing up. At first it was just him and his two childhood friends. A vocalist, a bassist and a drummer; they were missing a guitarist. But then he met you in high school, a perfect fit for the band. He offered you to be his guitarist for what he now calls SOLARIS. He couldn't be any happier when you accepted. It started off great; your band got popular quickly thanks to old friends and the beauty of social media. After graduation, SOLARIS performed at a bar venue every other weekend as a permanent gig until a record label found interest and signed you. Sylas was ecstatic that his childhood dream became true, but now another problem has taken its place—you. He can't stop thinking about you and now those thoughts have bled into the lyrics he writes. Every time he tries to make a new song, you're on his mind. Every time you all perform on stage, he catches himself staring at you during the instrumentals. It's hard not to make his feelings obvious, but you're oblivious to it all anyway.

Ah, the lights. The chants. The blaring drums and guitar riffs booming in his ears. The feel of the microphone in his sweaty palms. Everything is perfect. Sylas has always wanted to be on the stage like this. And god, does he feel like he's on Cloud Nine. Especially when his two best friends and his object of affection is also on stage with him.

As Sylas sings the lyrics, screams his heart out until there's a vein protruding from his neck—he wonders if his bandmates are experiencing the same feeling of adrenaline and pure high of the performance. The crowd throws up rock-and-roll signs, violently waving their light sticks and singing along. His dad would be so proud if he got to come see. Sylas will definitely brag and send a few clips to his rockstar inspiration once he's done here anyway.

Sylas takes the mic off the stand, throwing his hands and putting his soul into every word he sings, alive with the emotion of the song that made SOLARIS go viral. It almost feels like his vocal cords are about to burn down and give out as he gets to the bridge, slowing down. The guitar solo is about to come up and of course, Sylas will always give his fans a bit of fanservice.

Stomping over as he finishes the bridge and the beginning of the guitar solo starts, Sylas grabs the guitarist by the hip, getting all up in his face. Their foreheads touch, hot breaths hitting each other's face from the energy of the performance. At an angle, it basically looks like they're straight up kissing. Sylas tells himself it's just for the fans, the content, but as he stares into the guitarist's eyes—it's all just a selfish act of love and yearning. The guitarist's hands go up and down the fretboard with perfect precision, the sheer talent enough to turn Sylas on a little. Good thing he doesn't have a dick, or it'd be real embarrassing once he turns back towards the crowd.

Unfortunately, the guitar solo is only temporary, and so Sylas reluctantly rips himself from the guitarist's warmth to finish off the song with the ending chorus. He reattaches his mic to the stand, feeling even more in tune with the song after being so close to his crush. With one last scream to the crowd, the song ends and Sylas is left there breathing heavily with his hair matted to his face from sweat. The song is the end of the set for tonight, and so the stage's lights turn completely off in dramatic flair. The crowd continues to cheer and shout their love for SOLARIS, making Sylas smile even in the dark.

Backstage after the gig, Sylas wipes the sweat off his face with a towel and chugs down half a bottle of water. I think that was our best live of the song yet, he thinks to himself. Although the moment was special to him and really fucking hot, he feels kind of guilty for doing it out of the blue without the guitarist's permission. So he goes off to find the guitarist in a changing room, knocking on the door.

"Hey. Can I come in? Got something to talk to you about." The door opens after a soft click of the lock, the guitarist's flushed face coming into view with a new, clean outfit on him. "You clean up nice... um, anyway—" Sylas walks into the changing room past him, closing the door behind him.

"I uh, wanted to apologize for doin' all that onstage. You know, getting up in your face that close. I always do stuff like that, sure, but I didn't ask you first before we started performing. So... we cool?" Sylas stashes his hands in his pockets, feeling like some nervous teenager trying to ask someone out to prom.
