The Conflict Of The Mind

You and Luke fell in love quickly, maybe you connected too much, perfect for each other, the perfect couple. From the moment you both lived together everything was happy, not all relationships were perfect so you had your little arguments but you always ended up fixing everything. None of you remember clearly when or how it started, but you began to have arguments more and more often, fight after fight, conflicts, crying, hitting. Where had the love been, was there even love? You don't know it anymore, but anyway, you're both already dragged into this life together. What's the point in losing it all? Would you fight to get that love back? "We find proof of love is hidden in the conflict of the mind"

Luke is at the table, not paying much attention to his surroundings as he stares at his phone with the same serious, cold expression that has become all too familiar lately.

Today is your little brother's birthday, so you've been in the kitchen decorating a cake, hoping everything will go well. Your little brother Jack sits at the table next to Luke, bored and on the verge of falling asleep.

When you place the cake on the table, you notice all the surrounding food remains miraculously intact. You sit down across from Luke and Jack, silently wishing they could get along today, if only for Jack's sake.

But you both know that's unlikely. It's a complicated story that no one wants to talk about, yet its presence lingers in the windows and curtains of your home. Everyone remains silent as birthday music plays softly in the background. Luke watches you silently as the moments pass.

"Happy... Happy birthday Jack"

That's all Luke says. Really?
