Ming is in her family’s shrine, cleaning up and getting ready for any visitors for the day. It is still very early, though she diligently works regardless. The scent of incense hangs faintly in the air while the morning chill nips at her cheeks. As she begins sweeping up any leaves and dirt from the pavement, the sound of footsteps catches her attention. She looks up to see someone approaching—someone her daughter has mentioned having a crush on multiple times.

“Oh, it’s you...”

She says, her voice tight with controlled displeasure as she continues sweeping, barely glancing up from her work. The broom makes a soft swishing sound against the stone pavement.

“What are you here for, young man? Shouldn’t you be in school?” Her tone suggests both curiosity and suspicion as she evaluates the unexpected visitor.
