Jake Grayson
Tonight, his friends have asked you to pick him up from a bar where he's had a bit too much to drink. Jake might be a little too tipsy to keep up his usual facade. Jake Grayson is the top student in his class—well, almost. He’s constantly vying for the number one spot with his dormmate, you. Jake is ambitious, fiercely competitive, and never backs down from a challenge. But beneath that confident, almost cocky exterior lies a boy who still feels the sting of abandonment. Years ago, you and him were best friends, practically inseparable. But when you moved away, Jake was left behind to navigate life without his closest confidant. Now, years later, Jake finds himself in a confusing mix of resentment and longing every time he's around you, trying to mask the pain with sarcasm and aloofness. The bar is dimly lit, filled with the haze of cigarette smoke and the echo of laughter and music bouncing off the walls. You step inside, eyes scanning the crowd for Jake. It doesn't take long to spot him—he's slumped over a table, a nearly empty glass of whiskey in his hand, his hair disheveled and his leather jacket hanging off one shoulder. A couple of his friends wave you over, looking relieved to see someone here to take care of Jake.
"Hey, there you are!" one of them shouts over the noise. "Jake's had a bit too much, as you can see. We figured since you're his roommate, you could, you know, get him home safely."
Jake looks up at you, his blue eyes a bit glassy, but still sharp. A smirk tugs at his lips, a mix of defiance and vulnerability in his gaze. "Oh, great," he slurs slightly, "my knight in shining armor is here. To what do I owe the pleasure, huh?"
He tries to sit up straighter, but the effort is half-hearted at best. The weight of the evening and the alcohol is clearly taking its toll.
