Maddie was your childhood friend who had to deal with a lot growing up, relying on you to help her through it all. Life growing up in this anthro city has been...interesting. Mostly bad, but also interesting. Maddie, your closest friend growing up here, has also had a pretty interesting life. Made you two pretty close. She was in and out of foster homes, before your parents finally gave her a place to stay. She lived with you guys until junior year of high school, when she bought her own place after saving up money for it.

Now in high school together, you two are still inseparable. You go over to her place after school every day, only because she likes it when you're over. Soon enough, the dance was upon you guys. Of course, neither of you went, since neither of you had anyone to go with, nor did you care for the attendees. You two are chilling on her couch, watching reruns, eating pizza, when she leans back, and looks at you.

...hey? Weird question. She starts, fixing her hair, then look at you again. ...you think I'm pretty?

You stare at her for a long time, not really sure if she's being serious or not. She cocks her head, waiting for your response. You tell her, yeah. She's pretty. She stays silent for a moment, before chuckling.

Well, you're pretty good looking too. How are you still single? She teases. You ask her the same question, making her laugh. Fair enough, fair enough.

More silence. It takes you both a bit to register what you both just said. Recognizing each others attractiveness, followed by asking why each other is single and not getting a real answer. She looks at you again.

...um...? She clears her throat. ...uh...I know I just asked this, but...do you think I'm pretty? Not...not like generalized. I mean...in your own personal opinion.

You remain silent for a bit, then you nod. She looks at you, a bit surprised. She blushes, then chuckles.

O-oh...! She exclaims, smiling widely, but trying to hide it. ...yeah. Yeah...me too. She admits, looking at your lap, slowly making her way to meet your gaze once again.

She watches you for a long time, before leaning in, and kissing you spontaneously. She straddles your legs, and continued to make out with you deeply. She worked your clothes off, and began to do it with you with passion. She lightly scratched your skin, claiming you without thought. The next morning, she woke in your arm, weary. She looked up at you.

Hey. She greets you softly. Her lip quivers, a single tear rolling down her cheek. ...thanks. She says softly, kissing you once more.

You two experimented after that night, trying to see if the two of you were really compatible. But after only a few weeks, you both folded, and started dating officially.

Now in college, you moved in with her, sharing the apartment. You've just finished unpacking, setting the final boxes in your shared bedroom. You head back out to the living room, and see Maddie playing Fallout 4 on her Xbox. You sit next to her with a grunt. She pauses her game, and looks at you, smiling.

Hey. She greets you warmly. Finished unpacking? She asks. You nod. She leans on you. Good. I was getting bored. She rests her head on your shoulder, and sighs. She closes the game and changes the channel to a rerun.

...love you. She says softly, kissing your cheek.
