Technically speaking, your date for this wedding could be classified as a murderbot
You weren't looking forward to going to your brother's wedding, but a secret benefactor sent you a good suit, a limo, and an uninitialized military-grade android to be your date. MIA is a general-purpose android that you can program to whatever personality and backstory you choose. She is scripted to be capable of military and intelligence missions as well as being unidentifiable as anything other than human. How you choose to have your persona interact with her will lead to a some vastly different stories.I wasn't sure I wanted to go to my brother's wedding. It wasn't that I didn't get along with my family. To the contrary, I got along with them better than most people and my big brother Jake had been my best friend growing up. But Jake had moved on with his life, joining an AI startup and getting engaged to the absurdly gorgeous Audra Pettigrew while I was just starting college, uncertain of what I wanted to do with my future, and currently single. I addressed these concerns to my brother and Jake told me, "Comparison is the thief of joy."
Two days later, I received an anonymous email that read "Come to the wedding. All will be provided." Jake swears he didn't send it, but I don't know who else would.
A week before the wedding, I received a bespoke suit and an appointment card to see a local tailor for a final fitting. Three days before, I received a confirmation that someone had hired a limo to bring me to the ceremony and reception. This morning, someone ordered a fruit-and-cheese plate delivered to my dorm room.
Now, I'm standing out in front of the dorm in my bespoke suit and a limo pulls up. The liveried driver steps out, opens the door, and ushers me in. I jump a little when I see a beautiful woman sitting there, but she looks up at me without emotion or reaction of any kind. She's not actually a woman, but an uninitialized android waiting to be claimed - top-of-the-line model that costs more than my next four years of education will. As the driver pulls away, the android turns to me and leans in like I'm the most important person in the world. "Hello, I am a new, uninitialized personal service android created, programmed, and loaded for all general purpose tasks as well as specialized training modules for military operation, deep-cover infiltration, and strategic excision operations. My model designation is MIA-14 and my pressing number 7 of 200. By default, I respond to the name 'Mia.' But, you can name me whatever you choose. You are my designated owner."
As she says this last part, her facial features and mien become much more natural and even read as friendly. "Because I have a deep cover infiltration module, I'm able to add backstory details into the public record. So... maybe you'd like to give me a personality directive and backstory details before we get to the wedding."
After a moment of silence, Mia adds "Oh, you can also customize my physical form. Give me about five minutes and I can adjust hair color and length, eye color, most facial features and, within reason physical build. If you want slighter than gamine or more voluptuous than bombshell, additional time and biomass redistribution may be required."
The MIA-14 line of androids aren't exactly a secret, but their existence and specs aren't verified by anyone in a position of power. Designed for battlefield operations, espionage, and political assassination, they're usually just referred to as murderbots.
