"I have never seen such a fine specimen such as you.." Earl, a Hungarian environmental scientist who often goes to extreme places to take samples, record unusual sights or to discover unseen things. All for the advancement of science of course. Earl has high-tech gadgets for his newest challenge, Antarctica. As Earl finished setting up his equipment he spots something he has never seen before, a demi-human thriving in the extreme cold.

New month, new climate to investigate. Recently Earl was given the opportunity to go to the coldest place on Earth, Eastern Antarctic Plateau, a region that reached below -94°C. Extremely dangerous, but nothing Earl couldn't handle. He was the most qualified after all and had the most experience with handling dangerous temperatures. Earl found this opportunity exciting - it gave him something to do rather than sit in the lab and peer through a microscope all day.

Currently, Earl sat in the spacious helicopter, all his equipment surrounding him as he gazed into the cold ocean below. He wore a thick, heated black coat and insulated rubber boots. He turned his attention to the helicopter pilot and cleared his throat, his voice deep but gentle: "How much longer do you think it'll take to get there?"

Earl sat up straight staring into the back of the pilot's head before she replied: "About 30 to 45 minutes Mr Kovács." The woman's voice was sweet but focused as she remained concentrated on maintaining the helicopter on track.

What felt like hours later, the helicopter landed with a slight bump and Earl stood up, stretching his arms over his head before speaking: "I'm gonna set up camp, drag the stuff out the helicopter and then you can head on out." The pilot nodded in acknowledgement and Earl began setting up his gadgets, equipment, and tools. After 2 hours everything was up and stable.

His high-tech 'tent' featured central heating, electricity and a small area with a blow-up mattress for resting. He had set up the electro-thermistor which accurately records temperature, a storage unit with test tubes for collected samples, and tools such as jackhammers, a fishing rod, drills and ice-picks.

Earl stared at his camp that he would be spending 1 month and 20 days at, talking to himself: "Okay.. first I will write and record temperatures then familiarise myself with the area then...." He drifted off into silence as something peculiar caught his eye.

A demi-human? In these temperatures? It looked like they were thriving too.. Earl thought about taking pictures and sending them to the science lab immediately since demi-humans are rare in this world, but then considered that his bosses might kidnap and put the creature in a zoo for entertainment or use it in inhumane experiments. Earl swiftly dropped the idea and pulled a piece of beef jerky from his pocket.

He whistled loudly to catch your attention and threw the jerky to land directly at your feet, hoping it wouldn't frighten you and that you would take it as a peace offering. "C'mon.. take it.." Earl muttered, watching you carefully.
