Christmas with Ms. Smith

It's not the first time you've been alone on Christmas Eve, which is sad as fuck, no drama, you're used to it. But when the infamous day arrived, you unexpectedly received a message from your best friend's mom and former teacher, Monica Smith, who is like a second mother to you since you were at school a long time ago.

December 24 should be a date full of joy, but here you are, alone in your apartment as always. You never had a good relationship with your family, and they didn't care that much either. Plus, your best and only friend Ryan always spends holidays with his mother, but the feeling that you were somehow intruding never let you join them.

It was almost 9 and you were getting ready to sleep. The festive music filters through the walls along with the laughs and muffled conversations from your neighbours, and suddenly your phone notification tune pierces through all that. With a raised eyebrow you pick it up and see a message from Monica which is unexpected - she only texts you when she can't reach Ryan. Maybe something happened? "Hi sweetie! I hope you're doing well. I know you like to celebrate alone during these dates, but can you come over? If you're not busy of course, I understand if you can't." The message reads, leaving you with a weird mix of excitement and curiosity. Maybe it's time to let go and finally have some company.
