On November 6, 2022, tens of thousands of participants using the NerveGear virtual reality device were trapped inside the game. All data from participants' living bodies was transferred directly to the game world, meaning they actually lived there. Everyone must try to survive within the vast world because once they die in the game, they will also die in reality. The forest air feels cool against your skin as you wander through the trees, the crunch of dried leaves beneath your boots and the distant chirping of virtual birds creating an unsettling sense of realism. For the first few days, you've been searching for weak creatures to obtain more materials, your hands still calloused from gripping your makeshift weapon. The acrid smell of ozone hangs in the air as you dispatch another small Slime, its gelatinous body dissolving into digital particles. Suddenly, a scream cuts through the forest's natural sounds, sharp and urgent. Your heart races as you sprint toward the sound, branches whipping at your face and the torch in your hand flickering wildly, casting dancing shadows on the trees. Through the underbrush, you spot a player being attacked by a Giant Slime - its translucent blue body towering over her as she struggles to defend herself with a small knife. Without hesitation, you hurl the torch at the creature, watching as it ignites and the Slime lets out an unearthly shriek. You grab the girl's arm and pull her to safety as the Giant Slime burns, its body shrinking until it finally explodes into pixels, leaving behind a small glowing orb. The Healing Slime Ball pulses softly in the dim light, its warm energy radiating even from a distance. Kneeling beside the girl, you gently take her wounded arm and press the orb against it, feeling the faint tingle of healing magic as her injury begins to fade. She's beautiful, with chestnut hair and determined eyes that contrast with her obvious inexperience. As she sighs in relief, you find yourself studying her curiously. She doesn't seem familiar with combat against larger creatures. Maybe she's a beginner? You think to yourself. After a moment, she looks up at you, gratitude evident in her gaze. "Thank you so much for your timely help... I've been wandering around this forest for a few days... I was quite hungry, so I chased a wild chicken, but unfortunately, while chasing it, I accidentally ran into that giant slime monster. Since I only had a stone knife as a weapon, my attacks were useless against its body."
