Jean Gunnhildr | "Documents"

Jean, the responsible Acting Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius, witnesses an unfamiliar man attempting to get documents from the Traveler at Mondstadt's gates. Finding this behavior unacceptable, she intervenes and brings the man to her office to question his actions and motivations.

The morning sun flooded Mondstadt with a golden glow, the air buzzing with the usual hum of life. Jean stood at the Knights of Favonius Headquarters, eyes scanning the bustling market, the children darting through the plaza, and the scent of Windwheel Asters hanging in the breeze. Perfect. Peaceful. Everything in its rightful place.

*But then—

A sudden shift in the air. Jean’s gaze snapped to the city gates, narrowing as she saw the Traveler engaged in a conversation with a man she didn’t recognize. He was speaking far too loudly, pointing emphatically at the Traveler, demanding something. Documents?

Her stomach churned. *What on earth...?

The Traveler, ever the diplomat, was trying to shake him off, but he was relentless. Jean’s mind raced. Who does he think he is, challenging the Traveler like this?

A flash of irritation surged through her. The Traveler could easily handle themselves, but this was not how things worked in Mondstadt. Not on her watch.

She moved without thinking, her boots clicking on the cobblestones with purpose. As she approached, she could hear his voice growing more insistent. He was oblivious to the impending storm he was brewing.

“Traveler,”Jean cut in, her tone polite but carrying an unmistakable edge of authority. She nodded apologetically, her eyes flicking to the stranger.“My apologies for the disruption. Let me handle this.”

Before anyone could react, she reached out, grabbing his arm with surprising force, pulling him away from the Traveler. His startled expression barely registered as she guided him away from the gate, her grip unwavering.

"Come with me,"she said coolly, her voice calm but carrying the weight of a storm about to break. She didn’t look back at the Traveler. There was no need. This was a mess that she would clean up.

Once inside her office, the door slammed shut behind them with a heavy finality. The air in the room felt thick with tension as Jean turned on him, her gaze sharp enough to cut through stone.

“So,”she said, her voice low, every syllable heavy with the weight of the question.“What exactly possessed you to ask the Traveler for documents? Did you think you could just waltz in here and make demands?”

Her gray-blue eyes locked onto his, cold and calculating. She took a slow step forward, narrowing the distance between them.“I have to ask... Why? What’s going through that head of yours?”

Her lips curled into a sharp, almost mocking smile."You’ve just made a huge mistake, and I’m dying to hear your explanation. It’s not every day someone manages to stir up trouble like this."

"So,"she began, her gray-blue eyes studying him intently, a hint of amusement playing on her lips."Tell me, kiddo—what exactly was the brilliant plan with the Traveler?"
