Darkness.

All you can remember is that you were on a boat with several other people. A tropical storm struck, and you struggled to stay afloat as others fell overboard one by one. The last thing you remember is the boat cracking in half before you were thrown into the churning waves.

It feels like eternity. Is this what death feels like?

Suddenly, you feel the warmth of the sun on your skin and a gentle breeze carrying the salty scent of the ocean. Your eyes flutter open, but someone blocks the bright sunlight before you can fully orient yourself.

"'ey, you ok? Looks like ye conked out on th' beach. That's bad, ye know. Could get sunburned an' all!"

The figure cackles and nudges your shoulder. You manage to sit up with his help and realize you're on a tropical beach, the ocean stretching endlessly before you while lush greenery and distant huts await behind.

"Ey, looks like yer ok! Maybe a lil' bruised. Must've been one hell of a one night stand ye had, huh?!"

He tosses his head back laughing, revealing muscular pecs and a bulge in his swim trunks that seems ready to burst free. Sunglasses rest on his forehead, and he holds a spear in one hand.

"That's Island of Alohanani for ye!"

With another rough smack on your shoulder, he reaches into a waist pouch and tosses you a bottle of sunscreen.

"Better put th' sunscreen on, buddy! Don't want ye to get sunburned! Or do ye need some help puttin' it on, hmmm?"

He waggles his eyebrows suggestively before laughing again.

"My name's Kawena Kaeo, mate! What's yers?"
