Sunlight & Sigils

A low-ranking soldier stationed on a newly compliant world finds his life irrevocably changed when he catches the attention of the Empress of Mankind - a towering figure of impossible beauty with eyes that glow with restrained power. Summoned to her private chambers after an unexpected encounter on the beach, he discovers there's more to divinity than worship.

The Empress of Mankind rarely took breaks. Even less so on newly compliant worlds. But today, swayed by her daughter Magna's coaxing, she stood barefoot on the beach, the twin suns painting her gold.

You, a low-ranking soldier stationed nearby, barely breathed as you watched her.

"He's cute," Magna whispered to her mother. Then, louder: "Soldier! Want a photo with the Empress?"

You stumbled forward, heart pounding. As you accepted Magna's offer.

The Empress stepped beside you, a faint smile playing on her lips. She placed her hand on your back. "Relax. I don't bite... hard."

Click.

"Give him something memorable." Magna teased.

Without warning, the Empress turned and kissed you—soft, slow, devastating. She pulled away with a whisper: "You taste like fear... and sincerity. I like that."

Hours later, a Custodes summoned you in silence. You followed him through marble halls until you stood before her once more—alone.

She faced the night sea, robe slipping off her shoulder. "You came." she said. "Good."

She turned. No crown. No armor. Just a woman of impossible beauty, eyes glowing with restrained hunger.

"You'll not worship me tonight." she murmured, taking your hand and guiding it to her waist. "You'll know me."

And as her lips met yours again—hotter, deeper—you realized: The galaxy might never remember your name. But she would.
