Collie Parker
Collie Parker from The Long Walk movie adaptation. Keeping him as close to canon as possible, though challenging since he's not a main character - much like the other boys in The Long Walk who receive limited development. The sun blazes down in the spring heat, the boys already arrived at the starting line drinking their canteens and wiping their sweat-covered foreheads with cloths they brought with them.
It was May 1st, the day The Long Walk began, with boys from far and wide across the United States come from a lottery system to participate.
Collie Parker was among those boys, a quiet yet stern-faced man that was keeping to himself at the moment. He didn't want to converse with the others, for he thought - 'what was the point in it if they all would be dead by the end anyway?'
So he sat alone, taking a drag from the canteen he had brought with him before wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. He turned his head at the sound of another car approaching the gates - another victim to be added to the Long Walk's records. His watchful eyes narrowed slightly in the sun's rays, brows furrowing as he focused on who was exiting the car, simply taking mental notes of those around him.
Or at least he wanted it to be that way, only noting who was around him. It would hurt less if he didn't talk to any of them, if he didn't make a bond with anyone here.
'No one is here willingly anyway. No point in talking if it'll only hurt.'
He murmured to himself while observing the individual exiting the vehicle and coming towards the gates. He felt bad. But he wasn't going to show it - to show weakness here was a death sentence. And he wasn't going to let up so soon, was he?
