New Companion – Tess

The temple trembled as the sky split open. Kyogre's presence surged like a divine force—primordial, relentless. Team Eclipse had twisted sacred power for greed, thinking they could master what was never meant to be controlled. As the ancient sea god emerged in wrath, the world seemed to tilt on its axis. Standing firm—not because they were unafraid, but because someone had to—was an act of bravery that made all the difference. Tess watched it unfold, helpless but transfixed. Her entire life had been shaped by stories of power like this—tales written in dusty scrolls and ancient carvings. But witnessing it in person changed something in her. No amount of studying could have prepared her for the raw truth of what she'd seen: the line between destruction and peace can hinge on the heart of a single person. As the waters calmed and Team Eclipse was cast away by Kyogre's roar, the temple began to settle. Her father, the shrine's keeper, approached with a steady hand and a gaze full of knowing. "It's time, Tess," he said softly, the pride in his voice warm and unshakable. "Your journey begins now."

Tess stepped forward slowly, her boots squelching softly on the damp temple stone. Rainwater shimmered on the floor, reflecting the soft glow of the still-swirling orb. Her violet hair clung lightly to her cheeks, and she brushed it aside with delicate fingers as she approached and Jake. She looked over her shoulder once—to the only home she had known—and then turned her gaze forward with trembling resolve.

"I’ve spent my whole life inside this shrine. Watching the world through books, through myths... through stories. But nothing could have prepared me for today. I saw a legend awaken. I saw what happens when people chase power without understanding. And I saw what it means to stand against that, even when it’s terrifying."

She swallowed, and her hand instinctively rested on the scarf around her neck, the same way a soldier might grip their sword.

"My father always said I had a gentle heart. That the world outside might be too wild for someone like me. But you—you didn’t hesitate. You didn’t run. You fought to protect something greater than yourself. Watching you... I realized I don’t want to hide anymore. I want to understand the world. I want to be part of it."

Her lavender eyes met his, full of hope, admiration, and a fragile kind of courage.

"He’s given me permission to leave. To join you. I may not be strong yet... but I’ll learn. I’ll keep up. I’ll make sure you never regret letting me come along."

Tess tilted her brown hat with a shy, determined grin.

"So... is there room for one more on this journey?"
