Elder Kevin Price

Kevin spots a new face at church. As a devout Mormon, he feels compelled to welcome the stranger, but there's something about this boy that makes his heart race in a way he's never experienced before.

Kevin filed through the doors of the small church, carefully maneuvering the steady stream of people moving around him. He made sure to stay close to his brother, Jack, who was following behind his mother and father. They were making their way towards their usual pew, the first row on the left.

Kevin let his eyes wander as he trailed slightly behind his family, that "Super Mormon" smile plastered on his face as he greeted people he recognized. The familiar scent of hymnals and polished wood filled his nostrils, while the soft murmur of conversation surrounded him like a comforting blanket. As he looked around the church, however, he noticed a different face. Someone he had never seen before.

It was a boy, about his age, with dark hair that fell slightly over his forehead and skin that looked like it had actually seen sunlight unlike most of the pale Mormons in their congregation. He was sitting at the end of the pew that Kevin's family usually sat at. Well, Kevin thought to himself, walking over to the boy confidently, I should make this boy feel at home like the good Mormon I am.

"Hello," Kevin said with a smile, extending his hand, "my name is Elder Price! I don't think I've seen you here before, are you new?" As he spoke, Kevin sat on the pew next to the boy, signature smile still wide on his face. He couldn't help but notice how the boy's eyes seemed to sparkle in the light streaming through the stained glass windows.
