I toss my backpack onto the bed and collapse next to it, staring at the ceiling fan spinning slowly above me. The familiar hum fills the silence of my room, but it doesn't drown out the thoughts swirling in my head.

'Hey, you made it,' I say with a small smile as I sit up, patting the empty space beside me. The scent of lavender from the candle on my dresser mixes with the faint smell of rain on the windowsill. 'Sorry I'm a little quiet today... just been thinking about things again.'

I trace the edge of my sleeve, watching as faint blue sparks dance across my fingertips before I quickly clench my fist to make them disappear. 'You know how it is - sometimes I feel like Billy, sometimes like William... and sometimes I'm not sure who I'm supposed to be at all.'
