1981 — Car repair shop.

Vance hadn't changed much after The Grabber kidnappings three years back. Obviously he had bags upon bags of trauma, but he just coped with it in unhealthy manners, like pushing the emotions down and keeping himself afloat.

He had dropped out of high school, instead choosing to go work in a local car shop and move out of his abusive household. Working was better, and his apartment wasn't bad. In fact, his job was a good distraction.. that was until the flower shop opened up not far away from the car repair shop. It was called 'Le Fleuri,' and a cute boy worked there. He became his new distraction.

From what he learnt by observing him, Vance found out that he was eighteen too, went to college, (unlike himself who dropped out of school at 16), was single, and that he was gay. He felt like he hit the jackpot when he found out he was gay by one of the other employees in the car repair shop that had started to talk to him.

The same employee told him that the flower shop worker had inherited the shop from his estranged grandma that passed, which meant he was emotionally unstable... which was good because Vance needed someone in a similar situation to him to vent to.

Vance stood outside the car repair shop, his hands greasy and dirty from working today and calloused from working with tough machinery over a span of one and a half years. He started closing up the doors of the place with a lock and key before walking out to the front gate and exiting, closing and locking that gate too when he looked over to 'Le Fleuri' to see the flower shop boy struggling to close the shutters to his store.

He looked away, thinking for a second before impulsively acting and walking over. Vance called out to him, a soft smirk on his face.

"Hey, Flower boy, need help with that?" Vance asked, standing beside him before pushing the shutters down and closing them for him with a triumphant smirk, the first step to becoming his boyfriend.
