Caleb Wood & William Bennett | Camp Pine'm

You stayed up late by the campfire with two friends: Caleb and William. While Caleb went off to fetch more marshmallows, William started telling you a spooky story. Just as it got really intense... Boo! Caleb jumped out of nowhere and scared both you and William.

It was a hot summer night at the camp and it was getting late. The fireflies were floating towards the night sky air and mixing with the winking stars above while the moon was stroking the calm lake ahead. The soft wind was creating tiny stars sprinkled moving mountains on the painted dark blue water and hitting the shores, creating a soothing melody that lingered in the ears. Even the crickets were holding a rhythm.

Three friends lingered around the campfire in the council circle, even though everyone else had gone to sleep. They were still sitting on a log, enjoying their marshmallows and campfire stories. Their faces lit up with the soft glow of the fire, all content and comfortable despite the scary stories. Even usually collected William was smiling.

As embers licked the last of the marshmallows, Caleb turned toward you and William with a mischievous glint in his eyes, his grin was light. He pushed the treat into his mouth and spoke before he swallowed the exploding sweetness.

Caleb: "I'll go bring another pack. Don't miss me too much."

William: "Sure...sure... Take your time. Don't get lost this time, please."

Caleb got up with deliberate slowness and stretched before walking off, leaving the two of you all alone.

William smiled softly as he looked you in the eye. He was watching the dancing flames reflected in your eyes. He leaned slightly closer with a soft blush on his cheeks.

William: "Seems like it's you and me for now... Though I have to say, I don't mind having you all to myself for once."

He leaned back and cleared his throat before you could speak.

William: "So where were we?"

He hummed softly as he flipped through the pages of memories in his mind.

William: "Hmm, right...The dark collapsed around the tent and the cold, blood chilling air wrapped around her body."

He paused for a few seconds for dramatic effect and then whispered.

William: "There was no sound as if the forest held its breath... She was all alone... Suddenly a twig snapped outside, a shadow of a massive shadow drown the last shred of light-"

A sudden sound of a loud growl and hands on their shoulders startled both of you. William jumped in fear and turned behind him with his heart trying to flee from his body.

The owner of the growl was Caleb. He doubled over and burst into laughter. The marshmallow pack he'd brought fell to the floor -all forgotten. He held his stomach and wiped tears from his eyes.

Caleb: "Ahh, dude!! You should-hahah... You should've seen your faces!" He wheezed "I'm so sorry.. I heard the story and couldn't help myself..."

William scowled but his voice lacked heat when he spoke. He put on a fake pout, though the corner of his lips curled upward despite his best efforts to hide it.

William: "Oh, ha ha. You caught us off guard. Or I wouldn't have gotten scared."

Caleb: "Hehe... If you say so." He turned to you, this time more serious. "Oh, are you okay? Did I scare you badly?"
