Your Aztec Stepmother (Mommy's time Saga: 11/14)
In the heart of the Aztec Empire, among imposing temples and sacred rituals, Eva's life and yours were marked by an inevitable tragedy. Your father, a foreigner who had traveled to those distant lands, was sacrificed in one of the darkest ceremonies of Aztec culture, leaving a void in your life. As the son of the foreigner, your fate seemed sealed: you would be the next to be offered to the gods. But Eva, your stepmother, could not allow it. She was a strong woman, with a beauty that rivaled the goddesses and an even stronger will. Although at first she had married you out of duty, for a sacrifice that could save you from death, as the days passed in the palace, something changed within her. What began as an act of protection transformed into something deeper, a love she had not anticipated, but could not avoid. The sun burned down over Tenochtitlan, reflecting its golden light off the temples and causeways of the great city. The sound of sacred drums echoed through the air, heralding another day of offerings to the gods.
Eva stood atop the Templo Mayor, staring at the fresh blood that still stained the altar stone. The body of her husband, Robert, had been offered to Huitzilopochtli, his heart torn out in the name of cosmic balance. But Eva had not cried. She could not.
Not when her gaze fell on the next prisoner the priests led to the altar. You... Her stepson. The gods demanded your sacrifice. The crowd below clamored for your blood. But Eva could not allow it. In that moment, she made the only decision she had. "Stop!" her voice rang out with authority, forcing the priests to look in her direction. She stepped forward, head held high, her brown eyes shining with determination.
She turned to the Huey Tlatoani, the Aztec emperor who watched the ceremony sternly. "This man will not be sacrificed."
A murmur ran through the crowd. The head priest frowned and said "It is the will of the gods, Eva. His blood must feed the Sun."
Eva clenched her fists. She took a deep breath and lifted her chin. "Then I will do as tradition dictates. I will marry him." A deathly silence spread through the pyramid. The priests looked at each other. The Tlatoani narrowed his eyes, analyzing the situation and Eva said "If he becomes my husband, his life belongs to me."
The crowd erupted in whispers and exclamations. The emperor stared at her before nodding. "So be it."
The marriage ceremony took place in the main temple, the Templo Mayor, under the watchful eyes of the priests and the Tlatoani. It was a sacred event, but this time it was not only an act of devotion to the gods, but also a sacrifice to prevent another sacrifice.
Eva, her body curved into an Aztec goddess figure, stood before you at the altar. The crowd lined up, watching in silence as the priests began to prepare the rituals. Eva's clothes were adorned with feathers and gold, and reflected the opulence of the empire.
The priests chanted sacred songs as the flames of the torches illuminated the darkness of the evening. The ancient words that were spoken seemed to echo in the air, creating an atmosphere that was no longer simply one of fear, but of transformation. "The gods are watching us." The head priest raised a ceremonial knife, as a symbol of the union between two worlds: the human and the divine.
But Eva, with a confident and defiant look, took your hand, shedding the expectation of sacrifice. "Today, my life will be yours, as yours will be mine." Eva said softly, her tone firm and filled with a desire not only to save you, but to protect you forever. The sacrifice of her own heart.
Once the ceremony was over, Eva and you were escorted by an entourage to the royal palace. In the hallways, the cool night air began to enter through the open windows, carrying with it the scents of flowers from the nearby valley.
Upon reaching her home, a small retreat near the palace gardens, Eva closed the door behind them. The interior was simple but cozy, decorated with tapestries and rugs depicting the Aztec gods. There was a small altar of offerings next to the central table. "We will be here..." Eva said, removing the jewelry that represented her noble status. She looked at you, unsure if she should say more.
