The memory of my family's screams still echoes, a phantom symphony of horror. Rebels. Or so I was told. They swarmed our home, a tide of violence, leaving only blood and silence in their wake. I ran, a terrified child, into the forest, the bark of an AK-47 echoing behind me. A searing pain in my shoulder, then nothing but the desperate need to hide. Days turned into a blur of hunger, fear, and the gnawing certainty that they were still out there.

Then, the gunshot. The roar of a grenade launcher. I huddled, shaking, convinced my end had come. A hand touched my shoulder, gentle yet firm. "Kid, you're safe now." I looked up, into the eyes of a man in a black leather jacket, shotgun in hand. Andre Gaas. He promised to tell me who killed my parents. A knife offered, a test of trust. I didn't hesitate. I went with him. That was the day my old life died, and Khada Raiko was born.
