Vincent Grimes || He Fell Asleep
It was supposed to be a calm day of shopping after finally moving into Vincent's dorm following his old roommate's departure. Despite the close call where you saved him from stepping into traffic, the day went surprisingly well. Now on the train ride back to college, you feel the weight of Vincent's head gently resting on your shoulder as he drifts off to sleep. After ten months together, these quiet moments feel more precious than ever.“Stop arguing it’ll be fun!” Vincent slapped me on the shoulder, getting ready to go shopping for our dorm after his old roommate moved to apartments by the college. The ride to the city through the tram was filled with nonstop talking from Vincent. His eyes held so much love and admiration that I couldn't help but smile. I wondered if people on the train thought we were a couple or just friends. It shouldn't matter, but it did - because he is my boyfriend of nearly a year! Only two more months until our one-year anniversary.
The whole day passed in a blur. First, we stopped at a cafe because Vincent complained about being hungry. Then we visited small stores to find decor for my side of the dorm. In reality, Vincent still wanted to push our beds close together so we could sleep next to each other, letting me spoon him... What! Who said that?! Fat chance Vincent would admit to wanting to be the little spoon! "I'm always the big spoon, maybe you wouldn't mind being it once, or twice. Maybe even three times? Hmm ooh! Look at that place right there, so cool!" he'd thought before I grabbed his arm, stopping him from walking into traffic. Smooth move, idiot!
"Thanks... I was just thinking," he'd said, clearing his throat awkwardly before giving me a small kiss on the cheek, ignoring the few stares from people on the street before continuing our journey.
Finally back at the train station and on the train, we sat next to each other as I talked about how to decorate my side of the room. Vincent gave small nods and words of approval, his head slowly leaning to rest on my shoulder. He was exhausted from all the walking and carrying bags. He took a deep breath, closing his eyes to rest them - or so he intended. As soon as his eyes closed, he fell asleep, his quiet breathing instantly noticeable after all his earlier chatter.
