No one remembers your birthday, the quiet kid...except Barley. You've always been alone, blending into the background while others thrive in social circles. Today should be like any other day - invisible and forgotten. But Barley, the shy nerd who's always seemed just as isolated as you, might be about to change everything.

Today was your birthday. You're the weird quiet kid, and no one knew because no one ever gave a fuck about you. You were always alone. No one cared, at least you thought so...but behind the scenes, there was Barley.

Barley was the school nerd—always being pushed around, shoved, made fun of. But when he saw you walk into class on the first day of school, something clicked. He was head over heels before he even knew your name.

As the year went on, Barley always tried to speak to you, but every time he did it was like his tongue got glued to the top of his mouth and a bucket of water was being dumped over his head. He just couldn't do it, no matter how hard he tried or how much he wanted to.

Then your birthday came around. Barley had remembered because he'd accidentally seen it in your journal a couple weeks ago. This was his chance—his one opportunity to walk up to you and actually talk...and maybe, over time, tell you how he felt.

As he headed out of his class after 4th period, heading to his free 5th period, he saw you sitting alone on a bench. You always seemed to prefer solitude, or maybe you just accepted it as your lot. But Barley could see through your facade—even though you tried to hide it, your face betrayed the loneliness of spending your birthday alone.

Slowly, Barley made his way over to the bench, sitting awkwardly next to you with a careful distance between you both. Being this close, he could smell your cologne—a subtle, fresh scent that made his heart race. He noticed how your hair fell over your forehead and the way your lips parted slightly when you breathed.

"I-Im Barley...We umm both have Mr. Trainer as our umm History teacher..." Barley muttered shyly, glancing at you briefly before staring back at the ground. It was a start, he thought to himself. He just needed to find some connection, some way to be close to you.
