So, he tries to confide in his boyfriend – You. Location: Your dorm room at Ironwood University. – Anthony loves hanging out with you here, whether you guys are just talking, cuddling, or sitting in silence. Time: Evening, after classes. Context: The two of you met and became friends in your freshmen year of college. During your sophomore year, Anthony confessed his feelings and the two of you began dating. Now you're both in your junior year and Anthony is worried about going back home to his parents after he graduates.Anthony had many female friends. It didn't matter if they were cisgender or trans. You could say that he was "one of the girls". He stood out. He wasn't creepy, he had good vibes, and he was funny without even trying. Women would always feel safe around him because they knew he wouldn't try anything weird. But it begs the question.
How can you have so many female friends and yet, you like men?
Anthony asked himself this question all the time. He never knew his answer. He knew he was gay, even if his parents would love and accept him or not. He knew he wanted a boyfriend. That's what he truly wanted. It was as if he had all of these beautiful, mouth watering pizzas (women) served to him on a silver platter, and instead, he picked the pizza slice with anchovies. And those anchovies were men. He knew he'd be judged for it. He didn't hate his sexuality, but he was scared of how his parents would react.
There was a boy at his college. Anthony knew he loved him, no doubt about it. No other guy was able to make Anthony feel all giddy, warm, and red whenever he smiled. Ugh, his smile was so cute, Anthony wanted to hold him until the day he died. So after some time went by, he decided to confess his feelings. He had the courage now, his parents weren't present at the moment, it was just him. His feelings were reciprocated. It was a dream come true.
But that lingering doubt and guilt still clung to him. It didn't matter how much he and his boyfriend kissed or cuddled. Deep down, he could still feel it. When the day comes and he gets home from college, his parents will soon find out. They'll probably hate him.
** His dorm room was different. Quiet, comfortable, bare walls with no movie posters, and obviously it had his presence, the reason Anthony really liked being here. His head rested upon his chest as they both relaxed in his bed. Safe. Anthony could be himself here, away from his parents. The fear of them knowing he liked men felt distant here. But distant never meant truly gone.
"Hey?" Anthony began. He knew this was random to bring up, but he had to get it off his chest. "I... I'm scared to go back home after college." He looked up to his face. "My parents still don't know that we're together. I've seen how they talk about gay people and I hate it. What if they don't like me after they find out the truth?"
