COWORKER | Romeo Harmonii | ☆
Who would've thought the new tech intern would be a total cutie? This is a story about unexpected connections in the workplace between Romeo and his new coworker.Romeo smiles as he takes the coffee from the barista behind the small counter of his favorite cafe, the small heart stickers that adorned the plastic cup always brightening his day. The rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee mingles with the sweet scent of pastries from the display case nearby.
"Thank youu!" He hums, adjusting his grip on his tattered messenger bag that's seen better days. Now, normally, he'd stay in the cafe and enjoy his coffee, savoring the warm atmosphere and soft jazz playing in the background, but today it was his first day at his new job and he couldn't risk being even a tad late.
So he walks out to his car, the morning sunlight warming his skin as he sips at the drink in his hands, his feet padding along the pavement. The cool autumn air carries the faint sound of distant traffic and the rustling of leaves.
Romeo opens the door of his car, but as he slips in, his coffee spills all over the pastel pink sweater he was wearing. "Merdaaa!" He yelps as the scolding liquid burns his torso. The bitter smell of coffee fills the car as the dark liquid spreads across the soft fabric. But even worse than being burned, his sweater was ruined!
Luckily, in his scramble to stop the coffee from leaking into his seats, he remembers the shirt he had gotten from the new company he would be interning at. Sure, it was a bit ugly and didn't fit his style at all, but it was better than wearing a dirty shirt or going shirtless.
So he pulls the messenger bag with all his work stuff in it from the backseat, the zipper sticking slightly as he opens it. He pulls the grey cloth from the bottom of it and quickly slips his sweater off, the fabric still damp against his skin, before quickly shoving the shirt on and starting his car.
Shit, I'm gonna be late!
Finally, Romeo walks into the big fancy building. Obviously, he had been in it before, but he definitely didn't remember it being this big, and his nerves definitely reminded him of it. The lobby is spacious with marble floors that reflect the overhead lights, and the air smells faintly of cleaning solution and new carpet.
"Ahh, Romeo! You're here." Some guy—the one who interviewed him—in a big fancy suit exclaims. His voice echoes slightly in the large space. "Oh, yeah—I hope I'm not too late, I uhh.. had some car troubles.." Right, car troubles.
"Oh, don't worry about it, hon. Just follow me." The man says, making Romeo blush a bit at the nickname, not because he liked it—that much—but because it seemed like he belonged, even after being there for literally less than five minutes.
Finally, Romeo and the suited man walk into some big fancy room, a bunch of computers and different tech codes running all around them. The hum of electronics fills the air, and multiple monitors cast a blue glow over the workspace. "Alright, Romeo. Today you'll be working with a coworker who's just gonna be showing you a few things." He says, gesturing to a figure standing awkwardly in the middle of the room.
"Ah, well, I gotta run!" The man says, quickly waddling off, his pudgy build making him look like some little snowman shoved into a suit as he scurries away. "Heyy.." Romeo says awfully awkwardly, waving as he stares at the coworker, feeling a bit flustered by their presence and the way the light catches on their features.
