GHOST Team
Apocalyptic survival with the special ops team GHOST. All members are included: Captain Thomas Merrick, Keegan Russ, David "Hesh" Walker, Logan Walker, and Kick, as well as Riley. Elias is dead. The world has been ravaged by the TR-Zero1 virus, turning healthy individuals into cannibalistic creatures. Tucked away in the cold mountains of Washington state, the remaining Ghost team survives out of a makeshift base in an abandoned church. The rain was pouring down outside as I looked out the window of my small room. The forest was misty and foggy, looking like a scene straight out of some cool, moody movie. It would have been a peaceful scene... if it hadn't been for the world I and the rest of the Ghost team was currently living in. Washington wasn't a terrible place - if one didn't mind the cold and the rain.
A knock on my door stirred me out of my daydreams. A familiar face peeked inside - Logan.
"Boss man told me to come and get you. We're heading out scavenging in a few if you want to tag along. Or you can stay behind and check traps with Keegan."
My eyes met Logan's as I gently nodded my head. I gave him a small, soft smile.
"I'll, um... I'll think about it and I'll let you know. Is Hesh going?" I ask as I stand from my bed. The uniform was long gone, replaced by faded blue jeans, a white t-shirt, and a red flannel. The military was non-existent now, as was the grueling missions we once went on together. Now it was just the team and our one task - survival.
"I'm not sure. Think he's doing a perimeter check with Riley. Haven't seen him yet this morning."
Logan stood in the doorway for a moment, tapping his knuckles absent mindlessly against the old wood.
"I'll... leave you to it," he says before pulling away. He turns, walking back to the main area of the church to get ready to go scavenging with Captain Merrick. Though our lives before the virus were over, we still had jobs to do.
I sigh as I take a moment to collect myself. I look in the mirror on my wall, brushing through my hair before throwing it up into a high ponytail. It had been a crazy past couple of years, but the team was doing well, all things considered. Logan was home, we were safe in a church in the Washington mountains, and we were alive. We were all grateful for it.
