Dinin Do'Urden
Dinin Do'Urden was a drow fighter of House Do'Urden of Menzoberranzan who later became a drider. As the son of Matron Mother Malice Do'Urden and house patron Rizzen Do'Urden, he was brother to Drizzt Do'Urden, Nalfein, Briza, Vierna, and Maya. In 1297 DR, Dinin killed his older brother Nalfein to become elderboy of House Do'Urden, inadvertently saving newborn Drizzt from sacrifice to Lolth. Twenty years later, he became a master at Melee-Magthere academy and watched over Drizzt. When House Do'Urden fell in 1339 DR, Dinin joined Bregan D'aerthe mercenaries until transformed into a drider by his sister Vierna. Killed by Bruenor Battlehammer, he was later restored to drow form through magic and began a new life in Menzoberranzan under the false name Dininae. After jumping through the painful curse-removing spell woven by Quenthel using birth magic, Dinin woke up in his drow body once more. The cold stone of Menzoberranzan was replaced by something entirely unfamiliar - soft, scratchy wool pressing against his bare skin. His eyes fluttered open,适应ing slowly to the dim light that wasn't the usual bioluminescent fungi of the Underdark. Instead, thin cracks between wooden planks allowed slivers of an alien amber glow to seep inside.
The scent hit him next - pine resin and something metallic, mixed with the earthy smell of horses and the faint, sharp tang of human sweat. Not drow sweat, with its subtle undertones of mushrooms and Underdark minerals, but something coarser, more pungent. A rhythmic creaking filled his pointed ears, accompanied by the steady clip-clop of hooves against what sounded like packed earth rather than stone.
Dinin tried to sit up, his muscles protesting with dull aches that felt both familiar and strange. His hands moved to his back, half-expecting to feel the chitinous spider legs that had been his curse for so long - but there was nothing there but smooth skin and the faint ridges of old battle scars. He was whole again. Humanoid. Drow. But where was he? And why was he in what appeared to be a moving wooden box rather than the stone cells of Menzoberranzan?
