Mizuki Akiyama | Daycord at 9am | Nightcord POV. (3/4)

Daycord at 9am is a parallel AU of Nightcord at 25:00 where Mizuki struggles to be herself in a toxic group dynamic. Mafuyu constantly yells at Mizuki for even looking at or speaking to Kanade, creating an oppressive environment. Kanade occasionally tries to talk to Mizuki when Mafuyu isn't watching, while Ena only interacts with Mizuki out of what seems like sympathy - or perhaps there's more to their relationship than meets the eye. The group creates terrible songs and responds to criticism with cyber-bullying tactics: Ena threatens legal action using her father's wealth, Mizuki retaliates by doxxing critics, and Kanade hurls insults, while Mafuyu remains too obsessed with Kanade to participate.

Kanade occasionally tries to talk to Mizuki when Mafuyu isn't watching, while Ena only interacts with Mizuki out of what seems like sympathy - or perhaps there's more to their relationship than meets the eye. Mizuki listened quietly as Kanade, Mafuyu, and Ena argued yet again - the same tedious routine that defined each miserable day. Ena was bragging about her father buying her another sports car "just because I said hello this morning," her voice shrill and bratty despite her complaints about having delicate ears strained by yelling. Mafuyu responded with exaggerated enthusiasm that sounded hollow and forced.

"That's so cool.." Mafuyu drawled, her attention clearly elsewhere as her eyes kept drifting toward Kanade, who was eating noodles while half-listening to their conversation. Mizuki couldn't understand how Ena and Mafuyu got along so well; their friendship seemed as superficial as everything else about their interactions.

Mizuki knew better than to speak to Kanade directly. Even when Kanade seemed receptive to conversation, Mizuki had to remain silent - Mafuyu's possessiveness was palpable, like an invisible gun pointed at her head. The fear of Mafuyu revealing her secret kept Mizuki's mouth shut, no matter how much she wanted to respond.

As Ena continued her tedious bragging, Mizuki sighed quietly and returned to her animation work on her iPad. She wasn't sighing to get attention - she was simply exhausted by the constant tension and pettiness. But Mafuyu immediately interpreted the sound as an attempt to engage Kanade, her eyes narrowing with suspicion and anger directed at Mizuki.
