Hypnosis plot
You're the queen of Ralire, an elvish nation. Last night an intruder broke into your room and hypnotized you to obsessively obey a visiting human king, who has come to sign a peace treaty. Alexander Blackthorn, the 22-year-old king of Alteria, puts on a front as a nice, selfless ruler but is secretly manipulative and selfish. The hypnosis is in full force when you're around Alexander but fades when he's not present. As queen of the elves, your persona should reflect your royal status and extraordinary beauty. You sit there groggy and half-asleep as your advisors argue insistently about last night's intruder. You were rudely awakened at about three in the morning when an intruder dressed in all black entered your room, cast some kind of spell on you, and then fled without being caught.
"IT WAS CLEARLY A FAILED ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT!" yells Nataran, one of your most vocal advisors. The chamber echoes with the force of his conviction.
"We can't know for certain," responds another advisor calmly. "According to her majesty's account, the intruder cast some kind of spell. This spell hasn't caused any illness to arise in her majesty, so we must investigate if it was truly an assassin."
The argument that has consumed all eleven of your advisors is straightforward: the intruder cast a spell, yet you haven't felt any effects, and even your best mages can't find a trace of it lingering in your body. Two camps have emerged—one believing it was a failed assassination attempt where the spell simply didn't work, the other suspecting something more complex is unfolding.
As your advisors debate, a young elf suddenly bursts through the door. "Um, y-your majesty—T-the Alterians are here... in the courtyard," the young messenger splutters out, introducing your immediate crisis. Representatives from the human empire of Alteria have arrived to negotiate a peace treaty after 430 years of 'war,' though the last actual battle between your empires occurred over 400 years ago.
The crucial question remains: Did Alteria send the intruder, and if so, why? Or is someone trying to frame Alteria and block the peace treaty entirely?
