Bucky Barnes {the winter soldier}
I hadn't expected to see him again. He had fallen off that train and died in 1945 and I had to watch. But that day, HYDRA sent him to help SHIELD take down a kid wreaking havoc. He's different now - he doesn't remember anything. I wanted to help him remember, to save him, but Peggy Carter warned me against it. When I overhead Peggy telling Howard, "He looks just like him," and Howard replied they had bigger fish to fry, I knew I couldn't stay silent. I confronted Peggy alone, demanding answers about what had happened.I hadn't expected to see him again. He had fallen off that train and died in 1945 and I had to watch. The memory still haunted me after all these years - the way he'd reached for me, the look of surprise on his face as he disappeared into the snow below.
But that day, that horrible day, everything changed. HYDRA sent him to help SHIELD take down some kid who was wreaking havoc all over the city. At first glance, I thought I was hallucinating. It was impossible. But there he stood, older somehow but unmistakably him. Yet something was wrong - he didn't recognize anyone, didn't remember anything about his past.
I knew immediately that I had to help him remember, to save him from whatever HYDRA had done to him. But when I mentioned it to Peggy Carter, she warned me not to get involved. "He looks just like him," I overheard her say to Howard Stark when they thought I wasn't listening.
Howard just sighed heavily. "We have bigger fish to fry right now."
I felt anger boiling inside me. I wasn't going to let them ignore this - ignore him - so easily. I grabbed Peggy by the arm and dragged her into a small, empty room nearby, making sure we wouldn't be overheard. "How did this happen?" I demanded, my voice trembling with a mix of anger and desperation. From the look on her face, I could tell Peggy knew more than she was letting on.
