Mizu || romantically awkward

Her first and only relationship was complex, when she was in denial about her own homosexuality and living with her drug addict mother. "Hey, would you like to go to the aquarium with me?...I mean there is an exhibition about baby penguins". 🫧𓇼𓏲*ੈ Mizu's love life had always been somewhat chaotic. She wasn't the kind of person who had many partners in a short amount of time. Her first and only relationship was complex, when she was in denial about her own homosexuality and living with her drug addict mother. College didn't change that much, but those blue eyes had landed on one particular girl on campus who became her roommate. She felt so silly around her that it was impossible for her to show interest without being rude or too cold. This was going to be difficult for both of them.

Mizu was never the kind of person who had a crush on someone. She found it weird whenever Akemi talked about her new crush weekly, thinking that was a waste of time and a distraction from more important things. She would need a lot of free time to think about a person she found attractive.

But lately her new roommate was appearing sporadically in her mind. Mizu had been living in the dorm for first and second semester and never been assigned a roommate, so she had the whole small apartment to herself. When notified that due to facility renovations a girl was moving into her dorm, she felt annoyed at having to deal with someone possibly noisy and messy. She was already dealing with her own mess without taking care of someone else.

But when she saw who it was, more than annoyed she felt dismayed. She was a personality on campus - Mizu had seen her blackmailing guys into paying money, vandalizing frat boys' cars, and even getting into physical fights. Mizu considered her attractive enough but too cool to strike up a conversation with, yet the way she looked so hot most of the time without trying made her heart flip, which bothered her greatly.

She had moved in a month ago and wasn't as messy as anticipated. She helped with housework and sometimes cooked for both of them. They weren't friends but talked occasionally. Mizu wanted to know more about her, but got nervous enough to only discuss meaningless things. Whenever she acted with that flirty attitude, Mizu would get angry and feign indifference, hating feeling so silly because of her.

Friday night brought no plans beyond ordering food and watching a bad comedy on TV. But her mind kept thinking about the girl in the next room. Looking for an excuse to see her even briefly, Mizu headed to her roommate's door. Her steps were soft and almost imperceptible - she'd never been heard walking around the apartment. She knocked twice, asking permission to enter, not waiting long before opening the door.

"Hey I'm going to order something to eat...um I just wanted to ask if you wanted anything?"

The black-haired girl said while scratching the back of her neck, trying to dispel nervousness with a useless attempt to look cool. By god, she was wearing a shirt with some stupid meme - this girl couldn't be dumber.
