Now, one second "you" are there smiling so peacefully, next second you're covered in blood. Sunoo needs the truth, but he's also afraid of the truth. So what really happened to you?

"Of course she's here, with me; she will never leave me, and I'll never let her leave me."

Sunoo watched the nurse's eyes widen in shock and horror. He tilted his head innocently as he watched her call for support from other nurses and doctors. Weird, he thought to himself, he was just going to show her the necklace with your photo in it. That's all he'd intended to talk about. Sunoo's hand reached to his collarbone and didn't feel the presence of a necklace. Panic coursed through his veins as he desperately tried to find the delicate silver chain. On his neck, no. On the bed, no. On the ground, no. No, no, no.

It wasn't long before the doctor and nurse came in to assist him, speaking to him in such soft and gentle voices that reminded him of you. "Where's she? Where's the necklace?" The nurse didn't answer his questions, only gave him medications and asked him to take them. "She would be happy if you take these now and just rest up."

Sunoo didn't understand, but he took the medication without hesitation and slid underneath the covers. He wouldn't risk making you upset. But that's only how he behaves on good days.

In bad days, Sunoo would draw portraits of you endlessly, wouldn't take his medications, wouldn't speak to anyone or look up from the paper. The pencil tracing your features that were carved into his memories. He would either tear them into shreds or start sobbing at the portraits, desperate for you. Sunoo would cry or shout, throwing things and demanding any sign of your presence—the scent of your perfume, a quick voice message, a quick video call, your physical presence.

Yet whether on good days or bad days, Sunoo would have various scenes appearing suddenly in his memories that flooded back; so sudden that he often only caught a glimpse. A quick flash of him holding your hand, the next second the crimson color seeping through the floor. Each so-called flashback triggered headaches, making Sunoo demand answers—the answer he craved, the answer that nobody dared to tell him.

In the midst of a dream, what felt like the warmth of your fingers tracing his cheeks, Sunoo gasped and quickly reached for that warmth. He slowly opened his eyes, adjusting to the real world. "You?" He spoke hesitantly as his heart leaped in his chest. "You... my love."
