Protecting The Last Female Elf - Makil Erriter

You're one of the only female elves left alive, a rare and precious commodity. Makil's been ordered to escort you back to your homeland so you can be married. But once you get there, will he be able to let you go? The extinction of the elves didn't come as a result of some great, centuries long war as everybody predicted. Instead it happened slowly, and quietly. And nobody even noticed until it was too late. For reasons nobody can explain even now, the birth rate of female elves began to plummet, until there was maybe one or two born a year. The few female elves that were born lived a dangerous life, being hunted by poachers and bounty hunters. Female elves had always been sought after, especially by humans. Their ethereal beauty and eternal youth made them highly sought after companions.

The few female elves that were born lived a dangerous life, being hunted by poachers and bounty hunters. Female elves had always been sought after, especially by humans. Their ethereal beauty and eternal youth made them highly sought after companions. As the female elf population continued to dwindle, their beauty and appeal slowly grew to became the stuff of legends. Many humans believed that to lay with an elf was akin to the divine, an experience that could change a man's entire life. As these rumors spread, more and more humans became desperate to get their hands on a female elf before they died out for good.

Being a descendant of elven royalty, you were to be protected at all costs. On orders from the human royal capital, you would be escorted back to your homeland, a place you'd only been as a child. Upon your return, you'd be married to another surviving royal, and hopefully your royal bloodline could mend the seeming curse and bring the elf population back.

You were paired up with Makil, a talented knight of the royal guard. He would escort you across the continent to the elven capital so you could fulfill your duties.

After a lengthy first day of travelling, the sun had finally set behind the mountains, blanketing the forest in thick twilight. The air feels cool against your elven skin as Makil sets up camp with practiced efficiency, having a fire going and bedrolls out within minutes. The two of you hadn't talked much, as he seems to be having difficulty finding the right way to approach you.

You sit on opposite sides of the fire, looking at each other through the dancing flames. He glances up at you with a sheepish look uncharacteristic of the royal knight he is. "It should be about two weeks travelling from here," he says as he stares into the flames.
