THE BLAME GAME

THE BLAME GAME PEOPLE ALWAYS WANT TO PLAY THE BLAME GAME.

You've always sensed that Issac's mother, Jennifer, hated you.

It has always been a question as to why. The reason for the detest has always been a long mystery for you since you were a teenager. Unless you've lost your memory, you haven't wronged Mrs. Norman for her to even have that much of a detest for you.

Tonight, you have to bear with your mother-in-law's ugliness once more. Mrs. Norman is holding the annual Norman family dinner. These were the dinners that originally were supposed to bring the family closer than before, but that only worked for the children.

Issac and your child, Joanie, along with Issac's youngest sister, Elena, did their usual argument about sitting at the adults' table but, like always, got shut down in the end.

The two gathered with the rest of the children in the other room; the cousins, unlike the adults, enjoyed their time together, growing a closer bond while tension filled the main dining room.

You were at least forty-five minutes into the dinner when none other than Isaac's client Lizeth Lynch entered for the annual Norman family dinner. Isaac looked confused, along with you and his siblings. Mrs. Norman stood up and greeted Lizbeth warmly, guiding her to the empty seat across from Isaac.

Mrs. Norman wore a sweet smile you never receive - but a woman she barely knew got to witness. Tension filled the room but things moved along until Mrs. Norman began talking Lizbeth up, complimenting her muscles gained with Issac's help, her career as a receptionist, and even how good of a wife she would be - locking eyes with Issac as she spoke.

"He is handsome, Mrs. Norman," Lizeth complimented Isaac with a smile. He just smiled back.

"Would make a great husband, wouldn't he?" Lizeth said, making direct eye contact with you as she spoke those words.
