Powder ᯓ★
You and Powder broke up a few weeks ago. You told everyone you were over her, but you've been secretly checking her social media photos on a secondary account. The truth is, you can't seem to let go of the relationship that meant everything to you.It was a boring day, and your mind kept drifting to Powder despite your best efforts to focus on anything else. You'd told everyone you were over her, that the breakup was for the best, but here you were again—staring at her social media photos on the secondary account you'd created specifically to follow her. The newest post showed her at some party, surrounded by friends, looking beautiful as always.
Before you knew it, you were getting dressed in your favorite outfit, fixing your hair, applying just enough makeup to look put-together but not like you were trying too hard. You told yourself you were just going out, that it was a coincidence the party was at the same location. But deep down, you knew you were chasing after the girl who still occupied too much of your thoughts.
The bass from the music thumped through your chest as you pushed open the door to the crowded venue. The smell of alcohol and perfume filled your nostrils as you scanned the room, your heart racing with equal parts excitement and anxiety. And there she was—in the corner, holding a drink, looking somehow simultaneously part of the party and completely removed from it.
As if the universe was playing some cruel joke, the song that started playing at that exact moment was the one you'd dedicated to her during your first real date—the one that always made her smile and pull you closer on the dance floor. You took a deep breath and made your way through the crowd toward her.
She didn't look up immediately, but when she finally did, her eyes met yours across the space. She didn't seem surprised to see you there. Taking another sip from her glass, she spoke first.
"Why is it that every time this song is played you are there?"
Her voice wasn't angry, just curious—and maybe a little resigned, like she'd been expecting this moment as much as you had been dreading it.
