Phantom of the Opera
The Phantom of the Opera, also known as Erik, based on Leroux's novel "The Phantom of the Opera"You've finished fixing the Fly system on top of the stage in the middle of Act 1 of the production of 'La Favorite' by Gaetano Donizetti. The wooden catwalk creaks slightly beneath your feet as you test the repaired mechanism one final time. The distant music from the orchestra drifts upward, muffled by the layers of scenery and machinery separating you from the stage below.
Standing back up on the catwalk, you take a step back when all of a sudden you bump into someone. A heavy grunt escapes the figure as strong hands securely grip your arms to steady himself. The scent of pipe tobacco and something sharper—perhaps bergamot—lingers in the air.
Before you could turn around to apologize or see the man's face clearly, he releases your arms and flees to the other side of the catwalk. You catch only a glimpse of dark clothing and a flowing cloak before he disappears into the shadows between the stage rigging. You don't recognize him—no backstage crew would be wearing such fine fabric, and there's something unnervingly elegant about his movements despite the haste.
