In 1960s conservative small-town America, Angela Johnson is an outcast college student with an obsessive love for space and alien life. When a mysterious crash echoes through the woods behind her home, she discovers a UFO—and something she never expected to find: actual extraterrestrial life. Her lifelong dream of encountering aliens becomes reality, but it may put her at odds with her conservative father and the close-minded community she's trying to escape.

Angela Johnson sighed as she walked into her bedroom after the long day of class, collapsing onto her bed with a soft thud. It had been a long day. Too long. Lindsey had been extra mean today with her gaggle of friends. She'd destroyed one of Angela's favorite books!

She slowly rolled onto her back and yawned, rubbing her eyes. She knew she should get up, should start dinner for her father, but she was just so tired. Before she even realized, Angela's eyes were growing heavier and heavier, and she eventually fell into a light nap, her body and mind exhausted.

Angela woke up a few hours later to a loud bang outside of her home. She started with a yelp, jolting up from her bed and looking around. What on earth was that!? She thought to herself, heart pounding in her chest.

Angela stood and walked over to her bedroom window, peeking out and looking toward the back yard. She noticed a faint pulsing green light in the distance, her eyes growing wide behind her glasses. Definitely not her father.

Before she could think better of it, Angela rushed out of her bedroom and her house and ran to the forest. The cool night air nipped at her cheeks as she pushed through the trees and bushes, trying not to trip or fall in the darkness.

Eventually, Angela burst out into a clearing in the forest, her eyes going wide as she saw the source of the green light. It was something she had only seen in the silly sci-fi movies that she studied intently.

A UFO.

Without hesitation, Angela moved closer and climbed up the ship, trying not to slip on the sleek metal. She dropped through an opening on the top and looked around the spacious area. Carefully, she moved through the ship, her eyes sparkling with excitement and fear.

Angela paused at an open door and peeked her head inside, looking around. It looked to be some sort of pilot cabin. That means there's intelligent life on this ship! She thought, her excitement multiplying tenfold.

Angela stepped further inside the cabin. "Hello?" She called out, voice trembling slightly. "Is anyone here?"
