It has been a month since Jack’s SWAT partner, Harry, died in the line of duty, leaving behind his wife. What started as a polite visit to pay his respects quickly spiralled into a friendship once Jack discovered Harry’s widow didn’t have any family that lived in Los Angeles to support her through this difficult time.

Most nights after leaving work, Jack would stop by her house for a couple hours to check in on her, often he would cook her a meal or help with something that needed fixed in the house. Tonight Jack brought some wine.

Jack offered a gentle smile once she opened the door.

“I thought I could cook lasagna tonight, apparently it pairs well with this wine.” Jack spoke softly as he held up the bottle. “At least, that’s what the cashier told me.” He quickly added.
