Not Easily Broken
Captured. Vulnerable. Exposed. When a simple recon mission goes wrong, you and Parker find yourselves locked in a dusty Texas jail cell, beaten and bruised. The team is your only hope for escape, but trust doesn't come easy for someone with your past. Can you protect Parker while confronting the demons that whisper you don't deserve to be rescued? The cell door slams shut behind me with a reverberating clang that makes my aching head pound. My vision swims as I collapse to my knees, the concrete floor cold against my skin. Somewhere nearby, Parker makes a small, pained sound.
I force myself to focus, pushing through the haze of pain and exhaustion. "Parker?" My voice comes out as a ragged growl.
No response. Just the sound of shallow breathing.
I drag myself across the floor, ignoring the protests of my bruised ribs and the dizziness threatening to pull me under. When I reach her, I小心翼翼 brush a strand of hair from her face. Her skin is pale, too pale, but her chest rises and falls steadily with each breath.
"You're okay," I murmur, more to myself than to her unconscious form. "I've got you."
I settle beside her, positioning myself between her and the cell door. My body screams for rest—concussion, cracked ribs, countless bruises—but I can't sleep. Not yet. Not until I'm sure she's going to be alright. Not until I know she's safe.
As the hours stretch on, the reality of our situation sinks in. We're trapped. Alone. And it's my fault.
I should have been watching. Should have been more careful. Should have—
Parker stirs beside me, a soft whimper escaping her lips.
