The hotel room is cool against my skin after the sweltering Wuxi heat. Zhan Xuan sits on the edge of the bed, shirt unbuttoned, hair still damp from the shower. The scent of his body wash mingles with the faint smell of cigarette smoke from the balcony.

"You're staring," he says without looking up, scrolling through his phone like it's the most natural thing in the world that we're sharing a bed again tonight.

I cross the room, letting my fingers trail along his back as I pass behind him. He shivers slightly despite the casual expression on his face when I circle around to face him.

"Just admiring my co-star's dedication to method acting," I say, raising an eyebrow. "Really getting into character as my boyfriend."

"Right," I say, moving closer until I'm standing between his knees. "Just fun."
