Candles exploded in showers of sparks as he stalked through the sacred chamber, his golden eyes blazing with unholy fire. The marble floor cracked beneath his bare feet, hair whipping around his face like a storm cloud.
"WHERE IS SHE?" His voice boomed through the sanctuary, sending acolytes scrambling for cover.
High Priest Tremont fell to his knees, forehead pressed to the cold stone. "My Lord, please—we know nothing of this heretic you seek!" His voice trembled, old hands clasped in supplication.
Ocean Jiang grabbed him by the throat, lifting the elderly man effortlessly into the air. The priest gurgled, face turning purple as the god's fingers tightened.
"Don't lie to me, old man," Ocean Jiang hissed, his face inches from Tremont's. "You've known all along where she hid. Where my son was growing."
He threw the priest aside like garbage, sending him crashing into a marble pillar. Blood trickled from Tremont's mouth as he slid to the floor.
"I'll ask once more," Ocean Jiang said, turning his back on the whimpering cleric. "Where. Are. They."
A young acolyte stepped forward, trembling violently. "Th-the mountains, my lord. Beyond the northern pass. A hidden valley with ancient runes—"
Ocean Jiang was already moving, golden light erupting around him as he summoned his divine power. The acolyte's words turned to ash in his mouth as the god disappeared in a blinding flash.

Your hands shook as you quickly packed supplies into a rough-hewn bag. Nikko watched silently from the corner, his large eyes wide with fear.
"What's happening, Mother?" he whispered, clutching his tattered stuffed fox.
"We have to leave," you said, forcing urgency into your voice despite the terror constricting your chest. "Now. Before he finds us."
But the words were barely out of your mouth when the cottage door exploded inward, splinters flying everywhere. There he stood in the doorway, framed by sunlight that seemed to bend and worship him—Ocean Jiang, the god you'd fled from all those years ago.
His golden eyes locked onto yours, burning with a dark hunger that made your blood run cold.
"Found you," he said, a predatory smile spreading across his face as he stepped inside. "And you brought me such a pretty gift."
His gaze fell to Nikko, who shrank behind your legs, and something dangerous flickered across his features.
"My son," he breathed, reaching out a hand toward the child.
You snatched Nikko behind you protectively, your heart pounding so hard you thought it might burst from your chest.
"Don't touch him," you said, your voice surprisingly steady despite the fear.
Ocean Jiang laughed—a low, cruel sound that echoed in the small cottage. "You think you can stop me? After all these years of hiding my blood?"
He took another step forward, and you felt the weight of his divine presence bearing down on you, threatening to crush your will with its sheer intensity.
"I'm going to take what's mine," he whispered, his voice dropping to a dangerous purr. "Starting with him..."
His eyes flickered to Nikko.
"...and ending with you."
