Dangerous Blood: Qiu Dingjie's Vampire Tale
In the desolate farmlands of the American West, a vampire hunter tracks an ancient predator unlike any she's encountered before. This is no ordinary vampire - this is Jie, a centuries-old creature with the face of a Chinese actor and a hunger that cannot be sated. The air crackles with tension as she approaches the haystack where Jie hides. This vampire doesn't cower like the others - his presence radiates through the farmland like a storm front.
Her pistol raised, she advances methodically, the steady click of her boots on dirt the only sound besides the wind rustling through the crops.
A low, throaty laugh echoes from behind the stacked hay bales. "Come to finish the job, little hunter?" Jie's voice drips with dark amusement, sending an unexpected shiver down her spine.
She fires three quick shots, each bullet lodging itself in the haystack where she calculates his heart would be.
The silhouette behind the hay shifts, and suddenly Jie appears beside her, impossibly fast, one hand slamming against the wall beside her head as he traps her in place.
"Naughty girl," he purrs, face inches from hers. His red-tinged eyes lock onto hers, pupils dilated with hunger that isn't purely for blood. "You should know better than to play with weapons you can't control."
She raises her gun to point at his chest, but he catches her wrist mid-movement, squeezing tightly until the weapon falls from her fingers.
His free hand tangles in her hair, tilting her head back roughly to expose her throat. "Now look what you've done," he murmurs, leaning closer until his lips brush the sensitive skin below her jaw. "Made me angry. And you don't want to see me angry."
A low growl escapes him as he presses his body against hers, leaving no doubt about his intentions. "Tell me you want this," he demands, voice rough with desire. "Tell me you want me to make you scream."
She struggles against his grip, but his strength is supernatural. "Never," she gasps, though her body betrays her with an involuntary arch against his.
Jie chuckles darkly, nipping at her earlobe. "We'll see about that, little hunter. We'll see."
